MAFELL BST 650 S drilling station

The MAFELL BST 650 S drilling station is designed for highly precise drilling in solid wood and glulam. Its robust yet lightweight aluminium profile column and single-column guidance provide excellent visibility of the marking line and drill tip while leaving ample space for tool changes. The design also helps prevent the drill from tilting during the drilling process.

A key feature is the 80 mm high, six-roller drill guide with continuously adjustable, iris-like adjustment. The rollers guide the drill precisely and help prevent it from wandering, making the BST 650 S particularly suitable for demanding precision and series drilling.

The S version allows the column to be swivelled 45° to either side and precisely positioned using the angle scale. The 0° position can be locked, while the drill tip at base-plate level forms the swivel axis. This means the marking indicators remain usable even when the station is set for angled drilling.

The adjustable polyethylene rope return system allows the return force to be adapted to the working position. This is particularly useful for horizontal drilling, where a reduced return force can make operation easier. After drilling, the carriage automatically returns to its starting position.

For repetitive drilling patterns and hole rows, the insert plate can be replaced with an optional copy insert for use with drilling templates. Marking notches support accurate positioning, while an optional parallel stop with side stop is suitable for series production, including end-grain drilling. A depth scale allows the required drilling depth to be set quickly and accurately.

The BST 650 S accepts drills with a 43 mm clamping neck and provides a maximum tool diameter of 130 mm at 0°. At 45°, tools up to 100 mm in diameter can be used. With a maximum drilling depth of 455 mm and maximum drill length of 650 mm, the station is suited to demanding woodworking applications requiring controlled, repeatable drilling.
