The creator of Gjerdesagen was Norwegian carpenter Arne Gjerde, who developed the world's first construction saw with a swiveling plate.
Based on his work experience, Arne Gjerde noticed a clear need for better and more efficient tools. He combined the working principles of then-known construction saws with the use of a revolutionary swiveling plate and a ball jointed arm. Over time, the product became so widely used that today the construction saw is often synonymous with “Gjerdesagen®.” Since its humble beginnings in 1950, more than 350,000 saws have been sold.
Over the years, a complete solution of additional tools has been developed to meet the demands of professional builders. Although the saws have been improved over the years, the basic concept has remained the same. Today, saws are exported to about 10 countries and in ever-increasing quantities. The secret of Gjerdesagen's great success lies in its unique concept. The saws have customization options for all types of work. No matter how the saw blade is operated, the lifting arm is always on the same side of the table. The swiveling plate can move in a range of 0-135° and the saw blade can tilt up to 45° – at the same time! Reconfiguration is easy, and restoring work capacity is quick. This means it is a universal machine capable of easily performing complex cutting, breaking, and tilting tasks.
