The MAFELL BST 460 drilling station is designed for highly precise drilling in solid wood and glulam. Its robust yet lightweight aluminium-profile column provides a stable foundation for accurate drilling and offers significant advantages compared with conventional drill stands.
The single-column guide provides an excellent view of the marking and drill tip. The open construction leaves plenty of space when changing drills and helps prevent the machine from tilting during the drilling process.
A key feature is the 80 mm high, six-roller drill guide. The vertically mounted rollers are continuously adjusted using an iris-style mechanism, allowing the drill to be guided precisely and reducing the risk of the drill wandering. The guide accommodates drill diameters from 8 to 30 mm.
The adjustable polyethylene rope tension allows the feed force to be adapted to the working position. This is particularly useful for horizontal drilling, where reduced feed pressure can make operation more comfortable. After drilling, the machine automatically returns to its starting position.
For repetitive work and hole patterns, the standard insert plate can be replaced with an optional copy insert, making the BST 460 suitable for working with drilling templates. Marking notches allow the drill to be positioned extremely precisely, while the drill tip remains the pivot point even when the station is used in a swivelled working position.
The optional parallel stop with side stop provides a practical setup for series production, including end-grain drilling. The required drilling depth can be set quickly and precisely using the integrated scale.
The BST 460 is designed for drilling in wood and wood-based materials with a suitable drill featuring a 43 mm clamping neck. It is also listed by MAFELL as an accessory for the A 18 and ASB 18 cordless drills.
